Threshold Program Adjunct Faculty

Lesley University's Threshold Program is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach Apartment Living;
Fall Semester 2026;
In-person, On-Campus. The two sections available are:

  • Tuesdays from 8:00 am - 9:15 am (in-person)
  • Tuesdays from 9:35 am - 10:50 am (in person)

Candidates must also be available to participate in virtual staff meetings on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Course

Description:

This course prepares second-year Threshold Program students for greater independence by developing the knowledge and practical skills needed for successful apartment living in an urban setting. Students explore essential aspects of independent living, including household management, cleaning and organization, basic home maintenance, safety, emergency preparedness, and daily living responsibilities. The course also examines housing search strategies, tenant rights and responsibilities, roommate relationships, and selecting housing that aligns with individual needs, preferences, and goals.

Qualities & Capabilities: A successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a closely related field (required);
    Master's degree (preferred)
  • Prior experience working with children or adults with disabilities in a school setting
  • Ability to develop and administer curriculum to students with diverse learning challenges
  • Demonstrated commitment to communicative, student-centered, inclusive, and equitable teaching practices
  • Prior experience success using digital technology to achieve program goals
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skill
