Senior Lecturer and Director of Education

The Institute for Medical Engineering & Science (IMES) and Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST) are seeking a Senior Lecturer and Director of Education to lead HST's MIT-based educational programs. Responsibilities include overseeing academic affairs, educational policy, and curriculum development; advising and mentoring HST Ph.D. students; advancing strategic educational initiatives in partnership with HST co-directors; shaping the future of the HST student experience;

developing an educational portfolio aligned with candidate expertise and program needs; coordinating training programs and grants; overseeing academic budgets; serving as the IMES/HST UROP coordinator; and supporting the continued excellence and growth of HST's educational mission.

Required:

MD or PhD in a related field with experience in curriculum design, implementation, and assessment; at least five years of administrative experience, preferably in academia; demonstrated teaching experience and commitment to educational innovation; strong leadership, supervisory, relationship-building, organizational, and project management skills, including financial oversight; excellent written and verbal communication skills; discretion in handling confidential matters; and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and learning new systems (e.g., Canvas, File Maker, financial platforms).

Preferred:
Experience in higher education and/or collaborative, cross-institutional academic environments. Flexibility to support key programmatic and community events through occasional evening and weekend work (approximately four to six times per year).
