CNSCI 4550 - Natural Sciences Research Capstone

Lesley University's department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach CNSCI 4550 - Natural Sciences Research Capstone;
Fall Semester 2026;
Wednesdays from 1:45 - 3:45 pm;
In-person, On-campus.

Course

Description:

Students enrolled in this interdisciplinary course will complete a significant laboratory, field, or literature-based research project in science, mathematics, or mathematics education. Through their work, students will demonstrate the methods of inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving practices fundamental to the scientific and mathematical disciplines. Students will collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and communicate information using appropriate research methodologies and computer-based tools for data collection, modeling, productivity, and presentation.

Students will produce an annotated bibliography and a final paper, with different stages of proposals and presentations throughout the semester.

Qualities & Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:

  • A Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics or relevant field (required);
    PhD or Terminal degree preferred
  • Successful experience teaching science courses at the undergraduate level
  • Prior experience with academic research, research supervision, or thesis advisement for undergraduate students
  • Experience in constructivist, inquiry-based learning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
