Position: Professional Learning Manager          at Harvard University        in        Cambridge,        Massachusetts

Professional Learning Manager

The Professional Learning Manager directs the development, implementation, and facilitation of professional development offerings that help educators and other audiences strengthen their capacity to teach civics content and skills. The work will be performed as part of the Civic Learning Institute (CLI), an initiative at the Democratic Knowledge Project (DKP) that develops and delivers civics-focused professional learning for educators at all levels (early childhood, K-12, and higher education) and other audiences.

Using content knowledge, teaching skills and experience, knowledge of and experience using the Educating for American Democracy (EAD) framework, and professional development design and facilitation experience, the role will:

  • Conceptualize the content, format, and pedagogy of professional development offerings to achieve desired learning outcomes for the target audiences.
  • Adapt existing offerings to make them effective and relevant for all levels.
  • Guide the tech development team on the content and pedagogical intentions of the learning design as they build and revise online offerings.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of professional learning offerings; suggest revisions to scope, content, pedagogy, and resources based on evaluation.
  • Connect with and develop networks of educators and other potential audiences to grow engagement with CLI offerings and the EAD framework.
  • Deliver DKP and EAD-aligned civics professional learning for educators in a variety of contexts around the country, as requested by schools or organizations.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and support for teachers working with DKP to design and facilitate professional learning offerings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • M.Ed.
  • Teaching experience in a US public school
  • Experience designing and delivering professional development for educators
  • 5+ or more years for teaching and designing experience

Additional

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Facility with MSWord and Google Suite
  • Experience teaching with and providing professional learning related to the Educating for American Democracy framework.

35 hours per week

Work Format Details:
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University's Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts.

Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

Salary Grade and Ranges:
