Fayerweather seeks an energetic, committed Spanish teacher to teach students in grades 5-8.
Main Responsibilities- Teach students to develop Spanish fluency (grammar, spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary, composition) and guide students in conversational Spanish.
- Teach students to develop a cultural understanding and appreciation of Spanish-speaking countries
- Demonstrate an ability to teach and develop a curriculum that focuses on authentic, real-world learning applications.
- Create a supportive, caring classroom environment where students can learn and interact positively with one another through student-centered instruction, collaboration, and authentic assessment.
- Meet students where they are as learners by differentiating the curriculum
- Establish and maintain excellent classroom management
- Document the curriculum as it evolves throughout the year
- Exhibit excellent communication with parents to provide timely and appropriate feedback regarding student progress
- Perform various duties and essential tasks, including recess coverage, lunch duty, creating curricular displays, writing narrative reports, attending weekly staff meetings, participating in admissions programming as needed, and other duties as assigned
- Demonstrate knowledge in OWL, TPR, and TPRS approaches or similar language teaching pedagogies
- Demonstrate understanding of the philosophy of progressive education
- Demonstrate knowledge and commitment to the importance of diversity, equity, and belonging in an elementary school
