Job DescriptionDescription of Service Opportunity:
The CPS SOARS! program is a four week summer learning experience for current grade K-4 students with demonstrated academic need. Each classroom will have one teacher, one paraprofessional, and up to 15 students.
The SOARS Instructional Coach/Literacy Interventionist serves as an instructional leader within the CPS Summer Program, supporting both teacher practice and student learning in literacy. This role includes observing and coaching summer educators, facilitating the effective implementation of the Lit Camp curriculum aligned with CKLA, and providing targeted small-group intervention using mCLASS Intervention for students requiring additional support.
The Instructional Coach/Literacy Interventionist is responsible for ensuring high-quality, standards-aligned instruction, using data to inform both coaching and intervention, and supporting equitable access to rigorous mathematics learning for all students.
- Observe literacy instruction and provide actionable feedback
- Collaborate with teachers to strengthen practice aligned to CKLA and Lit Camp curricula
- Provide targeted small-group intervention using mCLASS intervention based on assessment data and student need
- Set goals, monitor progress, and document interventions in Branching Minds
- Partner with teachers to ensure alignment between core instruction and intervention
- Dates:
May 1–June 30, 2025 - 30 hours of program planning, curriculum alignment, and orientation

- July 6–31, 2026 (CPS SOARS! Program)
- Time: 8:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. (teacher work day, July)
- Note:
there are opportunities for staff interested in additional hours to facilitate enrichment activities in the afternoon.

Minimum Requirements:
The CPS SOARS! Literacy Coach/Interventionist must have the ability to support educators and teach students with a range of learning needs in multi-age classrooms. MA DESE licensure in Early Childhood preK-2, Elementary 1-6, and/or Moderate Disabilities preK-8 required. Priority will be given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.

Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours
