The McGovern Institute for Brain Research and the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), located in Cambridge MA, invite applications for a faculty position at any level, but with a preference for atenure track Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2027, or laterbased on mutual agreement. The McGovern Institute seeks someone with a background in basic science, including but not limited tocell/molecular and/or systems neuroscience, with a strong focus ontranslational neuroscience in nonhuman animals.

We have unique resources for creating and testing genetic models for braindisorders. A PhD degree in neuroscience, biology, physics,electrical engineering, computer science, or other relevant fieldsis required by the start of employment. Laboratory space will bewithin the McGovern Institute.

The Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences offers supportivementorship to new faculty, an exceptional environment for scientific inquiry, and a strong commitment to an inclusive,welcoming culture. Faculty duties include conducting original scholarly research, teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate level in brain and cognitive sciences, and mentoring students. The normal teaching load is 1.5 subjects per year.

The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment are $143,200 -$177,000 for a pre tenure position and $185,000 - $293,000 for atenured position. MIT provides pay ranges representing its goodfaith estimate of what the Institute reasonably expects to pay fora position at the time of posting. The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will be based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience and education/training, internal peerequity, and applicable legal requirements.

This pay rangerepresents base pay only and does not include any other benefits or compensation.
