The Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), located in Cambridge MA, invites applications for a faculty position at the level oftenure-track Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2027, or as soon thereafter as possible. We are conducting a search across all areasof brain and cognitive science, potentially including computation,cognitive science, or experimental neuroscience. A PhD degree in neuroscience, biology, cognitive science, psychology, physics,electrical engineering, computer science, or another relevant fieldis required by the start of employment.

The Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences offers supportvientmentorship to junior faculty, an exceptional environment for scientific inquiry, and a strong commitment to an inclusive,welcoming culture. Faculty duties include conducting original scholarly research, teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate level in brain and cognitive sciences, and mentoring students. The normal teaching load is 1.5 subjects per year.

The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is $143,200 to $154,000. MIT provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the Institute reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting.

The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will be basedon factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience and education/training, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements. This pay range represents base pay only and does not include any other benefits or compensation.
