The Faculty Of Arts And Sciences (FAS) is the historic heart of Harvard University. It is the home of Harvard's undergraduate program (Harvard College, founded in 1636) as well as all of Harvard's Ph.D. programs (the Harvard Kenneth

C. Griffin Graduate School Of Arts And Sciences, founded in 1872), Harvard Athletics and the Division Of Continuing Education. The 40 academic departments and 30+ centers of the FAS support a community unparalleled in its academic excellence across the broadest range of liberal arts and sciences disciplines. Lead all facets of program administration for student services, serve as a subject matter expert, and provide counseling for students and student groups.

The Director Of Community Engagement serves as a key leadership role within Phillips Brooks House reporting to the Associate Dean Of Civic Engagement And Service. They oversee programs related to summer fellowship experiences, winter break volunteer opportunities, and post-graduate public service opportunities for current Harvard undergraduates and recent graduates in the public interest sector. These programs focus extensively on student development, building community partnerships, and alumni/ae engagement.

Harvard College provides support to a wide range of community service organizations, alumni/ae Clubs, Shared Interest Groups (SIGs), and public service initiatives.

Core Program Oversight:

• Oversees winter break and summer programs. Currently these programs include the Mindich Service Fellowship Program, Harvard Clubs Summer Community Service Fellowship Program, the Arthur Liman Public Interest Law Fellowship Program, Fellows At The Forefront, Stad Fellows Program, Fong Family Winternship Program, internship placements with Harvard International Offices, and the SPARK program for pre-matriculated students.
• Oversees events and conferences related to community engagement work to meet the larger mission of the Center.
• Designs complex reports to support student services goals; analyze student services metrics to support strategic planning
• Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations

Community Partnership Oversight:

• Develops and sustains over 300 community partnerships related to summer, winter break, and post-graduate programs.
• Collaborates with several departments on campus to support campus conferences and regionally based partnerships and programs, such as nonprofit board recruitment fairs and graduate school networking nights.
• Stewards relationships with current and future partnership sites. Visits sites yearly for quality control and partner satisfaction.
• Serves as a strategist for community partnership building across the department and Harvard College.

Alumni And Key Stakeholder Engagement:

• Engages alumni in conjunction with the Harvard Alumni Association and Harvard's Alumni Affairs And Development team.
• Stewards communications support with donors, and student advising as needed.
• Supports the Associate Dean Of Civic Engagement And Service in fostering donor relationships and faculty relationships
• Serves as a liaison to other civic engagement units across Harvard University

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in an office setting
• May be required to work nights and weekends

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting (approximately 20 to 30 pounds), bending, and other physical exertion

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience

Additional

Qualifications And Skills:

• 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience related to community engagement work.
• Master's Degree in a field related to community engagement and/or public service.
• Familiarity with developing programs working with students, alumni, faculty, and community partners will be given preference.
