Sr Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Engineer – Drug Product Technical Authority, focusing on oral solid drug product manufacturing within Amgen’s therapeutic areas.

• Lead troubleshooting of unit operations including compression, blending, milling, granulation, drying, compaction and coating.
• Provide leadership and solutions across cross-site teams, setting agendas and identifying potential issues.
• Lead process development expertise for commercial drug product manufacturing, including process characterization, technology transfer, process validation, and routine commercial production.
• Tackle issues with drug product processing technologies and equipment.
• Identify and manage operational improvement opportunities for current and new processes.
• Support commercial manufacturing operations and contract manufacturing quality with technical evaluation of NC/CAPA.
• Visiting contract manufacturing sites to support key production breakthroughs and establish relationships.
• May be required to travel up to 25% of the time to various national and international worksites. Telecommuting is possible.

• Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering or a related occupation, with the following specific experience:
• Application of engineering and scientific principles to design and implement wet granulation, roller compaction, blending, milling, drying, compression, encapsulation and coating processes.
• Process characterization, technical transfer to commercial drug product sites, and process validation of oral solid drug products.
• Project management skills utilizing tools including Microsoft Project.
• Experience with quality and regulatory systems such as Track Wise and drug product manufacturing/process validation.
• Application of problem‑solving methodologies, including fishbone diagrams and 5‑whys for root‑cause analysis.
• Ability to identify and evaluate critical process parameters, including statistical analysis.

• Base salary range: $134,202 – $149,145 per year.
