Opportunity Overview
BESS Field Commissioning Manager. This is a 1‑year contract assignment (W‑2). You will oversee delivery/installation, quality, plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, and startup of a Battery Energy Storage System and Solar Coupled Power systems. The assignment involves subcontractors and OEMs, and you will act as the Owner’s representative. Responsibilities include oversight of site work, installation, status reporting, safety, quality control, startup, commissioning, testing, and project close‑out.
Day‑to‑DayResponsibilities
- Participate in safety program and audits
- Perform detailed system quality control inspections against installation manuals, engineering specifications, and drawings; maintain a detailed punch‑list
- Perform system walkdowns for mechanical completion prior to turnover or energization
- Create and manage energization plans
- Prepare and review project close‑out and testing documents
- Oversee substation testing third‑party management and substation energization
- Conduct metering testing
- Manage ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning process
- Review Purchase Power Agreement and Interconnect Agreements to develop guidelines for performance testing
- Work with Engineering, Commissioning, and Business Management personnel to obtain agreement on testing requirements
- Develop a complete testing plan for assigned projects to ensure all deliverables across contractual documentation are met
- Schedule and lead alignment meetings leading up to and during performance testing periods to align all required support parties and implement the test
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage System installation and startup
- Deep understanding of technical, performance, and integration of Li‑Ion batteries as part of ESS
- Commissioning process creation
- Substation testing and startup
- Protection and controls implementation and troubleshooting
- Understanding of containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, combiners
- Ability to conduct quality control inspections and punch‑list management
- Experience with DC systems (0–2,000 Vdc) and AC systems (480 V–34.5 kV)
- Familiarity with PLC and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.)
- Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting
- Electrical engineering or professional electrical background in power systems commissioning with minimum 100 MW‑hr or 5 EA energy storage systems commissioned
- Preference for BESS and SCADA background
Remote with 50% travel to Juno and job sites when needed.

Estimated base salary range: $55.00/hr to $60.00/hr, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills.
