Job Description Summary

MEMs Microfabrication Process Engineer (Metrology, Test, BEOL, or Bond) – Join our team at the Draper Microfabrication Facility in Cambridge, MA. In this role you will work with a team responsible for the development, execution, control, and continuous improvement of processes in one of four critical areas:
Metrology, Electrical Test, BEOL (Back End of Line), or Wafer Bond.

What We Need
  • Experience with manual (non‑automated) wafer handling.
  • Experience with microfabrication process development.
  • Learning, problem‑solving mindset.
  • Excellence in team‑based communication and coordination.
  • Highly desired:
    Experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and/or qualification of semiconductor manufacturing tools.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control and MES systems.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma.
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Design and develop MEMs devices, schematics, and physical layouts of integrated MEMS components or packaged assemblies.
  • Assess performance and process capabilities of potential MEMS device designs using modeling or simulation software.
  • Test and evaluate devices using a variety of tools, protocols, and software.
  • Analyze and address issues such as reliability, yield improvement, and/or failure.
  • Develop production methods and fabrication processes for MEMS.
  • Draft documentation such as operating instructions, performance specifications, and manuals.
  • Share performance experience and operating characteristics with designers or other engineers for new product development and/or training.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
  • Help define the approach to solve a particular problem and independently execute assignments.
  • Contribute high‑quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.
  • Proactively identify needs and concerns associated with design and manufacturing decisions and communicate them to project leadership.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills / Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time‑management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient with fabrication and metrology tools and instrumentation related to MEMS component fabrication.
  • Proficient with software tools and systems used for device design, modeling, and performance testing.
  • Proficient with software tools and systems used for statistical process control, reliability and failure analysis, including yield improvement.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

3‑5 years of Microsystems Engineering or related experience.

Additional Requirements

Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

US base salary range: $62,500.00 – $.
