Field/Service Technician, Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Maritech is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our engineering team. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
This is a hands-on position involving field testing, troubleshooting, and technical support for marine and industrial rotating equipment. The Field Service Engineer will work directly with clients and Maritech's engineering team in a variety of field environments throughout the United States and internationally.
Responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to:
- Conduct field surveys, including alignment measurement and correction of main propulsion systems and associated components
- Perform vibration testing and analyses on rotating machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues involving rotating equipment and machinery systems
- Conduct machinery condition monitoring surveys and assist in identifying equipment performance concerns
- Collect, evaluate, and document field test and measurement data
- Assist with equipment testing and other field engineering projects as required
- Maintain, inspect, and coordinate calibration of test and measurement equipment
- Communicate field findings and technical information with clients and members of the Maritech engineering team
- Work independently in field environments while maintaining Maritech's standards for accuracy, safety, and quality
- Minimum of two years of experience as an Marine Engineer or in a similar marine, mechanical, industrial, or field-service environment
- B.S. degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability
- Ability to identify and problem solve mechanical and electrical issues
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in field environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately collect and document technical data
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Frequent domestic and international travel is required. Field assignments may vary in duration and location based on client and project needs.
TrainingMaritech provides comprehensive, specialized training in the equipment, testing methods, and field engineering services used in this position. Candidates are not expected to enter the role with experience in every service area. A strong engineering foundation, mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and ability to troubleshoot in the field are essential.
