Title:
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Lead
Location:
Cambridge, MA (Onsite)
Salary: $180,000-$200,000

The Objective: As the EH&S Lead, you will take ownership of environmental, health, and safety programs across a rapidly growing hardware and robotics organization. You'll build scalable safety processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and create a culture where safety enables innovation.

The Impact: This is a highly visible role that partners closely with engineering, facilities, and operations teams. You'll have the opportunity to shape EH&S strategy from the ground up while supporting cutting-edge robotics development in a fast-paced environment.

The EH&S Lead's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead day-to-day EH&S compliance efforts, including OSHA recordkeeping, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage safety programs related to robotics, hardware development, lithium-ion battery handling, fabrication, and machine shop operations.
  • Conduct workplace audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses while driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, onboarding content, and specialized hazardous work instruction.
  • Partner with facilities and operational leaders on emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, and ergonomics initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between technical teams and external EH&S resources.
  • Support hazardous materials management, storage, permitting, and inspection readiness as the organization scales.
  • Build practical, scalable EH&S processes that support continued growth and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience within robotics, high-tech manufacturing, and hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety standards.
  • Experience managing hazardous materials programs.
  • Hands-on experience developing, implementing, and maintaining lithium-ion battery storage and safety programs, including regulatory compliance, risk assessment, handling, storage, and disposal requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while balancing compliance responsibilities and strategic program development.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical, engineering, and operational stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and training programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or similar certification.
  • Experience supporting fabrication shops, machine shops, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience building or scaling EH&S programs within a high-growth organization.
