Assistant Real Estate Controller

MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCo) seeks an Assistant Real Estate Controller to oversee accounting and financial operations for our diverse real estate portfolio, which encompasses over 100 properties across multiple asset types and investment structures. In this role, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and adherence to best practices. The position serves as the primary liaison with the outsourced property manager’s accounting team, supervising day‑to‑day accounting activities, reviewing lease data in systems such as Yardi, and flagging potential issues to asset management.

You will maintain the integrity of real estate sub‑ledgers and ensure accurate data flow into internal and third‑party reporting systems.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reviews.
• Oversee budget and forecast evaluations.
• Support the annual valuation process through appraisal coordination.

• Required: Minimum of six years of experience in Real Estate Accounting, bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance‑related discipline, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology, exceptional organizational skills, proven ability to multi‑task, and effective oral and written communication at all levels of the organization.
• Preferred: Experience with joint ventures or fund accounting, Yardi and/or Real Page, leasehold and fee simple accounting, Fair Value accounting principles and CPA.
