Job Summary
Independently perform financial analysis to support department’s role in assisting management with financial planning efforts, budget analysis and monthly reporting.
Job-Specific ResponsibilitiesThe Office of Finance and Administration in the Office of the President and Provost (OPP) supports OPP’s finance, administration, and operations objectives. OPP’s Finance and Administration’s portfolio of clients includes central administrative units (20+ units), central University-wide institutions (8 Allieds/Affiliates), and University-wide Initiatives and interfaculty initiatives (32+ initiatives). OPP Finance and Administration directs the financial and strategic planning related to the annual budget development, multi-year plan, reporting, quarterly and year-end closes, accounting, compliance, and stewardship.
OPP F&A also provides administrative oversight related to organizational reviews and approval of FTEs (1200 FTEs), rationalization/organization of allocation and distribution of discretionary funds, and local implementation of new enterprise systems across OPP departments, affiliates, and initiatives. The office oversees operations for buildings and spaces occupied by OPP constituents.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate Excel skills
- Working knowledge of budget management, financial analysis, financial modeling and basic accounting principles
- Demonstrated experience with financial systems and data query tools

- This is a term appointment through 6/30/2027 with the possibility of renewal based on available funding.
- This position will have a 3-month orientation and review period.
This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts.
Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
