Financial Assistant 2
Financial Assistant 2, Center for International Studies, provides day-to-day financial and administrative support for the Country and Area Programs (CAPs) and the Security Studies Program (SSP), including the Center for Nuclear Security Policy (CNSP), by processing a high volume of financial transactions and ensuring compliance with MIT financial policies and procedures. Working under minimal supervision, the Financial Assistant 2 serves as a resource to faculty, staff, students, researchers and vendors by responding to financial inquiries, researching and resolving transaction issues, and providing guidance on routine Institute financial processes.
Job Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible financial or administrative experience, preferably in a higher education or research environment; experience processing high-volume financial transactions and supporting multiple funding sources, with strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills to research and resolve financial discrepancies;
excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with the ability to interpret and apply Institute financial policies and procedures; ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team and exercise sound judgment and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information; and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with enterprise financial systems such as SAP or a similar ERP, Concur, and electronic financial management systems is preferred.
U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required. This is a hybrid position with 3 days in the office.
