Harvard University Health Services (HUHS), part of University Central Administration (CADM), is the on-site multi-specialty medical practice and health administration for the Harvard community. It provides care to students, faculty, staff, eligible post-docs, retirees, and their dependents. HUHS also manages two university-owned health plans, HUGHP and SHIP, and collaborates with other departments to address public health needs.

As a member of the Counseling and Mental Health Service’s (CAMHS) Access Team, the Clinical Access Clinician will, in most circumstances, serve as the first point of contact for students seeking care for mental health and well-being concerns. The clinician provides direct clinical evaluation,consultation and guidance in navigating available resources, andfacilitatesappropriate nextsteps to connect students with services. This position is scheduled for
40 hoursper week for 10 months of the year, with a reduced schedule of 20 hours per week during June and July.

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

• Serves as theinitialpoint of contact for studentspresenting with mental health and well-being concerns byfacilitatinginitial phone consultations. Conducts clinical evaluations, screens for safety and risk factors, reviews available resources, and uses clinical judgment to recommend appropriate service sand support next steps in connecting students with care.
• Uses information gathered from students and monitors caseload capacity andutilizationacross CAMHS staff to determine appropriate providerassignments.
• Ensures thetimelyand complete entry of consultation data into the Access database andsubmitsdocumentation for all clinical encounters in the electronic health record.
• Understands and adheres to Access Team workflow and communication guidelines, promoting consistency in the student experience throughout theinitialconsultation, triage, and referral processes.
• Provides interim counseling services for students who require stabilization and/oradditionalsupport connecting with off-campus resources.
• Maintains a clinical caseload of students engaged in short-term therapy at CAMHS.
• Facilitates urgent care appointments and supports other CAMHS staff in connecting students with resources following urgent care visits.
• Maintains current knowledge of resources available within and beyond CAMHS, including wait times and options for connecting students with CAMHS providers; other Harvard resources, such as the ARC, CWHP, and DAO;
  
  Timely Care services; and off-campus individual providers, group practices, and higher levels of care.
• Maintains an understanding of services covered by the Student Health Fee and Student Health Insurance Plan. Respond to students’ questions about covered services andredirectsthem to appropriate contacts, such as Member Services or the Patient Advocate, as needed.
• Participates in Access Team huddles by raising questions and providing feedback and consultationregardingclinical encounters and resource options.
• Participates in meetings with off-campus providers as coordinated or requested by the Team Manager. Collects and shares student feedback about resources for review and assessment by the Access Team.
