Medical Coder

We are seeking a detail-oriented and medical coder to join our healthcare team. This role primarily involves physician billing coding, ensuring accurate and compliant documentation of medical procedures and diagnoses. The Coder plays a vital part in the revenue cycle, supporting efficient billing processes and maintaining high standards of coding accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

• Perform physician billing coding by reviewing medical records, documentation, and reports to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure all coding complies with current industry standards, regulations, and payer requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing teams to clarify documentation as needed for accurate coding.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.
• Review and audit coded claims for accuracy before submission to minimize denials or delays.
• Support the billing process by providing precise codes that facilitate timely reimbursement.
• Keep detailed records of coding activities and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Assist in resolving any coding-related issues that may arise during the billing cycle.

• Proven experience in a medical coding role.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health records (EHR) systems and billing software.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills to ensure coding accuracy.
• Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and translate it into correct codes.
• Good communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and billing staff.
• Commitment to maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
• CPC or other credential for medical coding.
