Cellino is building the infrastructure for regenerative medicine. Our AI-guided, automated iPSC manufacturing platform brings semiconductor-grade precision to cell therapy production, making personalized regenerative treatments accessible ked by $96M in funding and an FDA Advanced Manufacturing Technology designation, we're transforming how cell therapies are made, moving from artisanal, manual processes to automated, reproducible manufacturing.
We believe the future of medicine lies in cellular medicine. If you want to work on hard problems at the intersection of biology, engineering, and AI, with real impact on human health, this is the place.
About the RoleWe're looking for a Tech Lead in Bioengineering to help build out new business opportunities. You'll work at the convergence of stem cell biology, computational methods, and automation, leading technical efforts that translate our platform capabilities into new applications and partnerships.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong quantitative background (physics, engineering, or computational biology) and deep expertise in pluripotent stem cell biology. You'll own a technical strategy for new initiatives, design experiments, build analytical pipelines, and work closely with business development to scope and deliver on emerging opportunities.
What You'll Do- Lead technical scoping and execution for new business opportunities, translating partner requirements into experimental and computational work streams
- Design and execute experiments to understand iPSC reprogramming, maintenance, and differentiation, with a focus on generating quantitative, actionable data
- Develop computational tools in Python for image analysis, signal processing, and biological data interpretation
- Lead projects - from R&D to scalable implementation on Cellino’s platform - for multiple cell-based bioprocesses
- Build and refine algorithms and AI/ML approaches that interface with our automation platforms, enabling closed-loop bioprocess control and decision-making
- Collaborate across biology, engineering, software, and business teams to identify technical feasibility and drive new initiatives forward
- Contribute to scientific publications, intellectual property development, and technical due diligence for partnerships
- PhD in Biophysics, Systems Biology, Biological/Biomedical Engineering, or a related quantitative field, OR equivalent industry experience with demonstrated technical depth
- Hands-on experience with pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs or ESCs), including culture, differentiation, and/or reprogramming
- Strong Python skills and comfort with modern data science and ML tooling
- Eagerness to learn and adopt the latest AI tools to solve biological problems faster
- Background in one or more of: developmental biology, morphogenesis, tissue engineering, synthetic biology, or quantitative imaging
- Track record of research excellence: publications, grant applications, patents, or demonstrated technical innovation
- Ability to work across disciplines, communicate effectively with diverse technical and business teams, and drive initiatives from concept to delivery
- Experience with lab automation or high-throughput experimental platforms
- Familiarity with signaling pathway dynamics, cell fate decision-making, or embryonic development
- Experience deploying AI/ML models for biological applications or building LLM-powered workflows
- Experience in computational biology methods & NGS-based cell characterization
- Industry experience in cell therapy, regenerative medicine, or biotech R&D
- Experience in business development, technical partnerships, or customer-facing technical roles
- Mission-driven work: We're building the foundation for regenerative medicine that can reach everyone, not just the wealthy few
- Technical depth: Work with cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of biology, engineering, and AI
- Real impact: FDA designation, clinical partnerships (including Mass General Brigham), and a clear path to patients
- Growth stage: Small enough to move fast, large enough to build something real
- Competitive compensation: Salary, equity, benefits, and the opportunity to be part of something transformative
Actual compensation is determined based on experience, education, role-specific competencies, internal equity with employees in similar positions, and employer-verified market data provided by an independent third-party partner. In addition to base salary, Cellino offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes equity compensation, medical, dental, and vision coverage, childcare support, a family leave program, flexible time off, commute subsidies, and more.
