VP Engineering – AI & Scientific Discovery - Cambridge, MA

An advanced AI-driven research organization that is building cutting-edge machine learning platforms to accelerate scientific discovery is looking for VP Engineering to join their team.

• Leading a small, high-caliber team of senior/principal engineers operating as technical owners
• Setting technical strategy and architectural direction across AI/ML platforms
• Staying hands-on (~25%) with system design, architecture reviews, and complex problem solving
• Partnering closely with product and research teams to deliver impactful solutions
• Hiring, mentoring, and elevating top-tier engineering talent
• Removing blockers and ensuring high-quality, fast delivery across projects

• Experience leading senior/principal engineers in high-autonomy environments
• Strong technical depth in large-scale systems and architecture
• Background in AI/ML-driven products (scientific or complex domains preferred)
• Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
• Experience working with researchers or domain experts is a plus
• Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous, high-impact environments
