Overview
The Library Innovation Lab (LIL) at the Harvard Law Library seeks a Perma.cc Legal Digital Scholarship Project Manager for a one‑year term. The role will design and launch a system to preserve and share legal scholarship using Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) within the Perma.cc service.
Responsibilities- Analyze current practices and gather requirements for DOI assignment to legal scholarship.
- Track developments in legal citation standards related to DOI and ensure project alignment.
- Evalue options for DOI minting (e.g., Cross Ref membership) and make recommendations.
- Develop criteria and workflows for DOI assignment aligned with industry standards.
- Lead outreach to law journals, faculty, clinics and other stakeholders to establish DOI registration procedures.
- Serve as liaison to DOI registration agencies to arrange permissions and clarify technical needs.
- Collaborate with Perma.cc and HLSL technical teams to design and pilot integration of DOI processes.
- Prepare clear documentation and policy recommendations for ongoing DOI management.
- Produce interim and final reports summarizing actions, challenges, and recommendations.
- Minimum of five years of post‑secondary education or relevant experience.
- Experience with scholarly communication, metadata, or digital preservation.
- Familiarity with DOI and other persistent identifier systems.
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Experience in law libraries, legal publishing, or digital repository management.
