Title: Associate Counsel
Location: Cambridge, MA
Salary:$200-250K + Bonus + Options
The Company: A well‑funded, innovation‑focused technology organization developing highly sophisticated hardware and software systems.
The Objective: As a key member of the legal function, the Associate Counsel will support a wide range of commercial and strategic legal matters, with a particular emphasis on intellectual property, emerging technologies, and complex partnership agreements. This individual will also help establish scalable legal processes to support rapid growth.
The Exposure: This role partners closely with senior leadership, engineering, and operations, providing practical, business‑oriented legal guidance in a fast‑moving, technically complex environment. You will play a critical role in enabling innovation while protecting the company’s core technology and interests.
Responsibilities
• Structure, draft, and negotiate a broad range of agreements spanning customers, suppliers, and strategic partners.
• Provide guidance on data usage, confidentiality, and technology-related contractual provisions.
• Support legal aspects of vendor, manufacturing, and operational relationships.
• Advise on intellectual property matters, including ownership, licensing, and protection of technology in commercial transactions.
• Partner with external counsel to support patent strategy, IP diligence, and related work streams.
• Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory considerations tied to advanced technologies and product deployment.
• Develop templates, playbooks, and internal processes to streamline contracting and reduce cycle times.
• Work cross-functionally to translate legal risk into clear, actionable guidance for business stakeholders.
Qualifications
• J.D. and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3–5 years of experience with strong exposure to commercial transactions, technology agreements, or similar practice areas.
• Demonstrated ability to independently draft and negotiate contracts in a dynamic environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to distill complex legal topics into practical advice.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
Preferred
• Experience supporting intellectual property and AI-related legal matters, particularly in environments where software and hardware intersect.
• Background working with or advising manufacturing, robotics, or advanced technology companies.
• Familiarity with patents, trade secrets, and technology licensing structures.
• Exposure to data privacy frameworks and related contractual considerations.
• Prior in‑house experience or experience working with high‑growth organizations.
