I’m excited to be partnering with a leading organisation in Cambridge as they look to appoint an IT Manager. This is a senior, hands‑on role within a well‑established IT function, combining leadership responsibility with day‑to‑day technical delivery across a complex, multi‑site environment.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure, server, and network issues
- Lead day‑to‑day IT operations, ensuring reliable and high-quality service delivery across multiple sites
- Support the delivery of IT strategy, translating objectives into practical plans and improvements
- Oversee infrastructure, systems, and cyber security across the organisation
- Drive service improvement, technical standards, and operational consistency
- Deliver and support infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and enhancements
- Maintain a hands‑on approach, supporting users and resolving technical issues where required
- Line manage and develop the IT team, promoting high standards and collaboration
- Proven experience in a hands‑on IT Manager or senior infrastructure role
- Strong Microsoft ecosystem experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure)
- Broad infrastructure knowledge including networking, Wi‑Fi, firewalls, servers, and cloud platforms
- Experience supporting or delivering cyber security best practices (patching, backups, resilience)
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
- Experience managing or mentoring technical teams
Strong stakeholder communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences - Experience working in a multi‑site or complex environment
- Able to work 5 days per week on‑site in Cambridge
- Willing to undergo enhanced background and vetting checks
- Senior, broad‑role IT position with both leadership and hands‑on responsibility
