Senior II Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

Join our SRE team! Our team uses large datasets to analyze and measure the performance and reliability of our platform. We are networking data scientists: we combine our knowledge of data analysis, networking and distributed systems to define key performance indicators for our platform, determine how different factors impact them, and devise opportunities for improvement.

• Leading SRE teams by providing technical mentorship, feedback and guidelines, and by organizing project‑specific work.
• Driving partnership with Engineering, Operations and Product teams to help guide adoption of new features and processes.
• Applying analytical skills and statistical insights to identify performance bottlenecks and reliability challenges, and propose solutions.
• Defining, implementing, mining data feeds drawn from 3rd‑party and internal sources to produce insights that influence company decision‑making.
• Influencing company decision‑making at the highest levels to identify areas for new technology investments.
• Building software tools and systems to automate analytical tasks and workflows to increase efficiency and reliability.

• 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Have an analytical background with experience in statistical data analysis.
• Demonstrate experience with coding in at least one of the following languages: python, perl, SQL, Java, C, R.
• Have a proven ability to provide insightful and well‑received technical feedback.
• Have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to articulate technical information in an easy‑to‑understand manner.
• Possess experience with Internet protocols (DNS/HTTP/TLS/TCP).

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only, the base salary for this position ranges from $146,400 – $263,600 per year; additional compensation may include incentive compensation opportunities, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary.
