* The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) is seeking a Public Affairs Specialist (Digital Communications) to manage the digital presence of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. This is a full-time, Trust Fund (non-federal) position based in Cambridge, MA, reporting to the CfA Director of Communications.

The role leads a major initiative to unify CfA’s many mission and telescope websites under one accessible institutional site, oversees web governance, accessibility, SEO, and day-to-day site operations, serves as steward of CfA’s visual identity across the SAO and Harvard College Observatory brands, plans and optimizes email newsletters and outreach campaigns, tracks and reports web/email analytics to inform strategy, and produces or oversees graphic design work translating complex science into visual formats.

Requirements:
* 1+ year of specialized experience at or above the grade-11 level, such as supporting a complex website redevelopment or maintaining a sophisticated brand system
* Expert knowledge of digital communications, UX, and digital marketing fundamentals
* Advanced proficiency with CMS platforms, email marketing tools, Google Analytics, and digital asset management
* Advanced design skills including Adobe Creative Suite and accessible/inclusive design standards
* Strong project management skills with ability to lead major initiatives with minimal supervision
