Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Commercial Data Enablement Lead is accountable for maximizing the value of data acquired, generated, and used across Commercial products while ensuring that priority data assets adopt agreed data foundation standards.
With primary coverage of USBU and IBU and enterprise visibility, the role works across CxF, Digital Health, Medical GTM, Content, Patient Services, Commercial Analytics, and enterprise data teams.
The role connects commercial priorities, data investment decisions, and product delivery to improve reuse, quality, interoperability, and readiness for analytics and AI.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the portfolio view and value assessment of data acquired or generated across Commercial products
- Guiding acquire, reuse, enrich, consolidate, or retire decisions based on business value, cost, quality, and duplication
- Driving adoption of metadata, lineage, data quality, ownership, Critical Data Elements, semantic, and AI-readiness standards
- Embedding data foundation requirements into product intake, design, onboarding, release, and operational processes
- Aligning USBU and IBU priorities while providing enterprise visibility of data value, adoption, risks, and opportunities
- Partnering with Commercial, product, architecture, data, procurement, privacy, security, and AI teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Commercial Data Portfolio & Value
- Own an integrated view of data acquired, generated, and consumed across CxF, Digital Health, Medical GTM, Content, Patient Services, Commercial Analytics, and related capabilities.
- Connect data assets to business capabilities, product roadmaps, priority use cases, owners, consumers, licensing constraints, quality, cost, and risk.
- Evaluate proposed data acquisitions and new pipelines against existing assets in EDB/CDL, MDM, Salesforce/CxF, UCDC, and BU environments.
- Recommend whether data should be acquired, reused, enriched, consolidated, or retired, reducing duplication and improving return on investment.
- Prioritize data investments based on business value, strategic need, reuse potential, quality, regulatory considerations, and analytics or AI relevance.
Data Foundation Adoption
- Translate standards defined by the Commercial Data Ecosystems & AI Readiness Lead and enterprise data teams into practical requirements for Commercial products.
- Drive adoption of business and technical metadata, lineage, data quality, Critical Data Elements, ownership, access, semantic consistency, versioning, and lifecycle practices.
- Embed foundation requirements into product intake, design, architecture review, build, onboarding, release, and operational processes.
- Apply standards to new and existing data assets, prioritizing remediation according to value, risk, reuse, and AI or analytics relevance.
- Ensure adoption aligns with privacy, security, responsible AI, regulatory, and enterprise architecture expectations.
USBU, IBU & Product Enablement
- Lead coordinated enablement across USBU and IBU, with enterprise visibility and reuse of common data assets and patterns wherever appropriate.
- Partner with CxF, Digital Health, Medical GTM, Content, Patient Services, Commercial Analytics, and BU teams to establish product-specific value and adoption plans.
- Resolve cross-product and cross-domain dependencies by bringing together business owners, product leaders, architects, engineers, data owners, and stewards.
- Promote approved integration and consumption patterns before new sources, pipelines, or duplicated solutions are introduced.
- Maintain clear decision rights, escalation paths, and governance forums for data investment, adoption gaps, exceptions, and remediation.
Value Realization, Governance & Leadership
- Define and track practical measures including usage, reuse, cost avoidance, quality improvement, time-to-insight, adoption, and contribution to business, analytics, or AI outcomes.
- Maintain portfolio and adoption scorecards that provide senior leadership with visibility of progress, risks, underused assets, duplication, and opportunities.
- Advise senior Commercial and technology stakeholders on data priorities, investment choices, and actions required to improve value and readiness.
- Establish playbooks, checklists, training, stewardship practices and communities that make foundation standards easier to adopt and sustain.
- Represent Commercial data enablement in enterprise governance and transformation forums, ensuring USBU and IBU needs inform enterprise capabilities and standards.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Data/Digital, Life Sciences, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
Experience (12-15+ years)
- Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences environments required;
Commercial domain experience strongly preferred - Experience in commercial data strategy, data products, data acquisition, governance, enablement, or enterprise data transformation
