Our Change Safety Optimization (CSO) team, part of the Infrastructure Engineering & Operations team, ensures that global content-delivery operates at peak efficiency. We ensure our platform operates safely and reliably while maintaining agility necessary to accommodate changes to meet customer demand/needs. Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators, safely make configuration changes, and oversee and operate over 350k+ servers in Akamai's global network.

As a Production Service Engineer II, you will maintain the stability, safety, and high availability of global network infrastructure. Executing critical deployments spanning software, metadata, network, and platform updates while driving operational improvements elevating change safety. you will be responsible for:

• Deploying critical software, metadata, network, and platform changes safely, accurately, and efficiently across all global networks.
• Diagnosing and resolve complex technical issues within your areas of specialty to maintain platform stability.
• Processing & Safety Improvement:
  Identify, design, and implement operational process improvements that maximize change safety and operational efficiency.
• Tooling & Documentation:
  Continuously improve internal tools, monitoring alerts, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
• Working closely with cross-functional teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) fostering positive cross-group relationships, isolate software/platform bugs, and long-term technical resolutions.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2+ years of experience administering Linux/Unix systems in large-scale content distributed environments.
• Possess proven experience in monitoring, administering, and troubleshooting high-availability platform environments.
• Have Solid understanding of SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Shell).
• Have good working knowledge of core networking technologies and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, WAN, and DNS.
• Be a problem-Solver & SME Collaborator:
  Demonstrated ability to partner with Subject Matter Experts to identify underlying issues/bugs and implement robust resolutions.
• Have adaptability & Prioritization: ability to prioritize tasks, make sound decisions, and solve problems in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
