Job SummaryThe primary purpose of the Custodial Trainee is to maintain assigned areas in a safe, sanitary, and orderly manner by using the appropriate supplies and equipment and according to Ability One project site contracts. The Custodial Trainee will also fully engage in required training, meetings with their case manager, work supervisor and Project Manager to discuss their work skills and areas that need to be improved upon.
Responsibilities- Follow all program participant rules as defined in the handbook and engage in assigned training, ISP goals and performance improvement plans.
- Maintain regularity with case manager and onsite supervisors.
- Remove and dispose of trash; empty trash barrels and replace liners in designated cleaning area.
- Return all trash barrels to their original position; remove full trash bag from barrel and dispose of trash in tip cart.
- Vacuum public and office areas; prepare floor for vacuuming by removing large debris; accurately vacuum all carpet; clean/replace vacuum bag; return vacuum to appropriate area after each use.
- Sweep public and office areas; sweep all designated cleaning areas with broom; sweep dirt from floor into dustpan and place in trash barrel; return broom and dustpan to appropriate area after use.
- Mop public, office and restroom areas; prepare floor for mopping by sweeping or dust mopping; use appropriate chemical; damp mop all designated cleaning areas; clean mop/bucket after use.
- Clean restrooms and locker rooms; clean fixtures and mirrors; replenish paper supplies; polish metal surfaces; spot clean walls and partitions; dust top of partitions; sweep and mop restroom floor.
- Strip and finish floors; move furniture; sweep and/or damp mop before stripping; apply stripper and new finish; protect other areas; place furniture back in original positions.
- Clean elevators; vacuum tracks and carpet; polish doors and interior walls; spot clean carpets; shampoo carpet and mats.
- Snow removal: shovel snow and ice; sand and salt sidewalks, stairs, ramps, entrances; use snow blowers and brushes to remove snow.
- Follow cleaning schedule per project site contract; report all unsafe or hazardous conditions, defective equipment, and complaints to supervisor or Project Manager.
- Ensure cleaning areas are free of equipment and supplies; store equipment and supplies properly at end of shift or workday.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with Federal Government employees while providing customer service atmosphere.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
