About This Role

The Head of Neuropsychiatry, US Medical is a critical leadership role that oversees the strategic direction and execution of medical affairs activities in the Neuropsychiatry portfolio. The role spans early access programs, lifecycle management studies, and multiple launched therapies, supporting patients with high unmet needs while driving growth for Biogen. The leader reports to the Head of Medical, North America, and leads a cross‑functional medical team (Medical Directors, Field Directors, and Medical Science Liaisons) while collaborating with Global Medical, Regulatory, US Commercial, Market Access, and Value & Evidence Generation partners.

• Lead the development and execution of the US Medical strategy across the Neuropsychiatry portfolio, covering marketed products and late‑stage development assets.
• Serve as the primary medical point of contact for Neuropsychiatry across US Commercial, Market Access, Global Medical, and Regulatory organizations.
• Oversee field medical strategy and operations for the franchise, including Field Directors and MSL teams.
• Provide leadership and strategic oversight for scientific content development, external stakeholder engagement, congress strategy, publications, and advisory boards.
• Embed medical input in key cross‑functional activities (lifecycle management, launch planning, field enablement).
• Integrate patient and HCP insights into strategic and tactical planning, ensuring a data‑driven, customer‑centric approach.
• Promote a performance‑driven culture that encourages accountability, innovation, and excellence throughout the team.
• Mentor and develop medical affairs talent through coaching, career path planning, and succession development.
• Represent Neuropsychiatry in governance, promotional review committees, and compliance processes, aligning with regulatory expectations.
• Manage the Neuropsychiatry medical budget, ensuring effective resource utilization and investment in high‑impact areas.

• A purpose‑driven, strategic medical leader with a passion for advancing care in rare and complex diseases.
• Experienced in leading medical teams, building collaborative relationships across stakeholders, and delivering meaningful impact for patients and the business.
• Comfortable navigating complexity, operating with integrity, and fostering high‑performance, empathetic environments.

• MD, PhD, PharmD, or DNP in a clinical or scientific discipline.
• 8‑10+ years of Medical Affairs experience with escalating responsibility and accountability for planning and tactical execution.
• 5+ years leading Medical Affairs teams across multiple products or within complex therapeutic areas.
• Proven experience developing and executing medical strategies for both marketed and pipeline assets.
• Deep understanding of medical engagement, regulatory environment, field medical operations, and scientific communication.

• Experience in Neurology and Psychiatry (strongly preferred).
• Success launching and supporting multiple products within a portfolio‑based model.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment with high strategic visibility.
• Track record of building and leading high‑performing teams with a focus on talent development and inclusive leadership.
