Job OverviewPattern Assistant will support the pattern specialist manufacturing and repair operations of reciprocating compressor engines within our oil and gas operations. This role is critical to ensuring the precision and quality of cast components used in high-performance compressor systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating and maintaining precision patterns used in foundry and machining operations, a good understanding of casting processes, and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design, fabricate, and modify patterns for the casting of components used in reciprocating compressor engines (e.g., cylinders, pistons, valve bodies, compressor frames).
- Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, CAD files, and specifications to ensure accurate pattern production.
- Collaborate with engineering, machining, and foundry teams to ensure patterns meet dimensional and functional requirements.
- Maintain, repair, and store existing patterns to extend usability and ensure consistency in production.
- Troubleshoot casting or fitment issues related to pattern design and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure all patterns meet quality and safety standards and comply with internal procedures and industry specifications.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for pattern-making processes and casting efficiency.
- Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in pattern making, machining, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience in pattern making, preferably in the oil & gas, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing sector.
- Wood crafting experience preferred.
- Proficiency with manual and CNC tools used in pattern making.
- Strong understanding of casting processes (sand casting, investment casting, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Employee must be physically capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as stipulated by local, state or federal agencies and/or COOPER Machinery Services and customer policies, as required.
- Exposure to smells and fumes associated with natural gas products.
- Field activities may include walking to and amidst work and/or construction sites, working around heavy equipment, negotiating rough terrain of loose rock, etc.
- This role requires time spent in a workshop, foundry, and occasional production floor activities.
- May involve occasional lifting of pattern materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required in applicable areas.
