We're seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation ’re building revolutionary systems that combine innovative AI, sophisticated control systems, and advanced mechanical design to create adaptable solutions capable of working safely alongside humans in dynamic environments—pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in robotic manipulation, locomotion, and human‑robot interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bring structure to ambiguous business problems; using science, logic, and practical experience to decompose them into straightforward, scalable, and performant solutions.
  • Hire and develop world‑class embedded software engineers into effective teams, solving challenges that have never been solved before.
  • Leverage previous experience to review, guide, and coach the team to avoid pitfalls and produce world‑class, industry‑leading products and systems.
  • Balance technical leadership and business judgment to make sure that the right long‑term decisions about technology and methodologies are being made.
  • Represent the team in business planning activities and technical estimation exercises.
  • Balance the complex demands of safety‑critical development against Amazon’s fast‑pace project needs.
  • Produce high‑quality written documents to influence project and team direction.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle—including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and life‑site operations.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
  • 5+ years of development experience within an embedded environment or with some aspect of robotic systems, including direct, hands‑on experience designing, developing, and debugging items such as consumer electronics, medical devices, automotive systems, avionics, industrial, or telecommunications products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.
  • Familiarity with developing in a safety‑standards controlled environment such as IEC 61508 or ISO 26262.
  • Experience with tools for custom embedded Linux distribution creation such as Buildroot or Yocto, and familiarity with developing and debugging the Linux kernel.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
