Overview
The VP, Head of US TTR Marketing, is a highly visible, mission‑critical role that will report to the SVP, US Head of Business and will be a core member of the US Leadership Team. This person will be pivotal in defining the goals, strategies, tactics, and metrics necessary for maximizing the potential of Alnylam’s US TTR franchise. The VP will lead a team of 20‑30 marketers and thought leader liaisons (TLLs), fostering a culture of customer‑centricity, thoughtful risk‑taking, and cross‑functional partnership.
This person’s leadership will be instrumental in maximizing Alnylam’s competitiveness, navigating the complexities of the biopharmaceutical landscape, building and cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders, and enhancing patient access to our life‑preserving therapies. A key element of this person’s success will be building a culture of deep collaboration across the breadth of Alnylam’s functions including Sales, Account Management, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Legal, and Compliance.
This is a virtual position but will require regular travel to Alnylam’s headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies for driving awareness and diagnosis of TTR amyloidosis, and for maintaining high preference/market share of Amvuttra and Onpattro among HCPs and patients. - Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary marketing team, fostering a culture of customer‑centricity, thoughtful risk‑taking, and cross‑functional partnership. Ensure alignment of goals, strategies, and tactics across the marketing team as well as the broader cross‑functional team spanning Medical Affairs, Sales, Account Management, Market Access, Patient Services, Regulatory, and Legal. - Brand Management:
Oversee the development and execution of brand strategies, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels and touchpoints. Drive brand awareness, engagement, and loyalty among target audiences. - Market Insights:
Leverage market research and data analytics to gain insights into customer behaviors and market trends. Inform strategic decisions and optimize marketing campaigns to meet market needs effectively. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Cultivate strong relationships with key opinion leaders, patient advocacy groups, and professional organizations. Develop and support programs that enhance disease awareness and education. - Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all marketing activities comply with regulatory guidelines and ethical standards. Work closely with legal and regulatory teams to navigate the approval process for marketing materials and campaigns. - Performance Metrics:
Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies. Adjust plans as necessary to achieve business objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred.
- ~15 years of U.S./global biopharma marketing and business experience, with experience managing sizable teams.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns and strategies in competitive markets for pharmaceutical products. Experience at large biopharma company preferred. New product launch experience is a must.
- Extensive experience with HCP and consumer marketing, as well as engagement with, and cultivation of, thought leaders.
- Experience in cardiology preferred.
- Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, reimbursement landscape, and regulatory environment.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex data and market insights to drive decision‑making.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong executive presence.
