About the Role
Eliot is seeking a dedicated Respite Nurse to join our team. Eliot’s Respite program is a short‑term restorative service that assists adults with mental illness in obtaining and maintaining community living. As a Respite Nurse, you will be responsible for providing oversight, guidance, and assistance to clients in understanding their medical conditions and performing direct medical care as needed. Our ideal candidate will be able to establish supportive relationships, communicate effectively, manage crises, and solve problems.

- Provide education and consultation to clients and staff on medical health, medications, and general medical topics.
- Deliver one‑on‑one training tailored to specific individual needs.
- Develop and lead groups and trainings for clients and staff on general health and wellness topics, including nutrition, exercise, and smoking cessation.
- Assist clients in accessing community resources that support their health and wellness goals.
- Meet with clients and staff to discuss medical diagnoses, causes, symptoms, complications, and available treatment options.
- Perform direct medical care for a person as appropriate and ordered by a physician, which may include monitoring of vitals, wound care, etc. This includes providing interventions specific to the person’s IAP (Individual Action Plan) for medical/health and wellness goal areas.
- Review medical documentation for each assigned client and provide consultation and coordination of care as needed.
- Coordinate overall medical care for clients and ensure necessary follow‑up is completed.
- Provide health and wellness interventions focused on education and skill‑building.
- Support the team and clients by introducing tools for ongoing symptom assessment, evaluating treatment effectiveness, and identifying appropriate responses or next steps.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Experience working with adults with severe mental illness.
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Monday‑Friday, 8am‑4pm.
Annual Salary: $60,000 USD – $72,560 USD
