Position: MAH ED RN- 36hr Rotating

Registered Nurse

Reporting to the unit’s Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse works collaboratively with members of the Care Team to ensure that patients receive exceptional, high‑quality, patient‑centered nursing care that meets their individual needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments.
  • Assesses the health‑care needs of patients for formulation of a care plan, its implementation, and evaluation.
  • Integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience in caring for patients to support decision‑making.
  • Coordinates patient care and directs assistive personnel to deliver safe, effective, efficient, equitable, and timely care.
  • Demonstrates awareness of environmental forces affecting patient and family health.
  • Identifies resources necessary to implement the plan of care.
  • Works collaboratively with other health professionals to determine health‑care needs of patients and families.
  • Develops and maintains trusting, respectful relationships with patients and families.
  • Communicates effectively in the exchange of information.
  • Acts as a patient advocate.
  • Provides education per the care plan and predicted length of stay for every alert and aware patient; includes family members and caregivers as appropriate.
  • Participates in the development of educational materials/presentations for patients and/or significant others and documents outcomes in the medical record.
  • Ensures patients and significant others receive education regarding discharge and community services available.
  • Maintains annual mandatory education requirements, including emergency skills and unit‑based competencies.
  • Participates in quality‑improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates commitment to patients, colleagues, and Mount Auburn Hospital.
  • Engages in educational opportunities for professional growth, personal well‑being, and license renewal as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (required).
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing (preferred).
  • 1–3 years related work experience (preferred).
  • Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (required).
  • AHA Basic Life Support certificate (required).
  • ACLS required for some specific clinical units.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 50pounds occasionally or 20pounds frequently; must stand and/or move throughout most of the shift.
  • Competent to provide patient care for the following age groups:
    Young adult (16–30years), Middle age (30–60years), Elderly (60+years).
  • All staff must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
Compensation

Pay Range: $37.00–$95.37 per hour (base hourly wage range). Actual compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices in accordance with the law.
