Summary:
The Inspector B is responsible for performing inspections and/or audits of purchased parts, materials, equipment and quality control programs. Interprets manufacturing drawings, diagrams, specifications and lists to approve or reject units or systems for in-process or final assemblies. Performs sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. Ensures raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet company standards. Determines or assists in determining methods and procedures necessary for inspection.
Job Description:Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform inspections on a variety of materials, components, assemblies, and/or systems.
- Document work results and generates inspection reports.
- Types of inspections include visual, workmanship, dimensional, and electrical.
- Documents work results and generates inspection reports.
- Complies with safety and security rules and observes good housekeeping practices.
- Accomplishes assignments with minimum direct supervision.
- Able to use and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work to inspection procedures.
- Able to follow and execute to verbal and written instructions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
Employees must satisfy either the Education or Experience qualification requirements.
High school diploma or its equivalent, plus two years of technical schooling related to engineering, science, and/or mathematics.
The two years of technical schooling may be satisfied through one of the following:
- An Associates degree in an engineering or science program
- Five college credit technical courses in the area of engineering, science, and/or mathematics.
- One college level writing class can be counted toward the five courses.
- Quality Inspector Certification (CQI) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ)
- If the employee satisfies the Education requirement, a minimum of two(2) years of experience is required in a quality assurance organization performing tasks related to the inspection of either mechanical or electronic commodities.
- If the employee does not satisfies the Education requirement, a minimum of four(4) years of experience is required in a quality assurance organization performing tasks related to the inspection of either
* mechanical or electronic commodities.
* Typical Mechanical Inspection Commodities - Machined stampings, moldings, castings, threaded components, sheet metal parts, and bearings.
* Typical Electronic Inspection Commodities - electronic components, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, wafer die, MCM/MEMs products, harnesses, connectors, or other electro-mechanical assemblies.
Employees hired into the classification before TBD, 2012- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years experience as a precision mechanical inspector, sound knowledge of shop practices is required.
