Research Scientist
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
Chung Lab, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory
will assume a position under the primary mentorship of Professor Kwanghun Chung and is a pivotal role responsible for generating spatial transcriptomic and proteomic optical imaging data of human and non-human primate brains, utilizing the novel technology pipeline established by the Chung Lab, including tissue processing, molecular probe staining, and volumetric data acquisition using light sheet microscopes. The successful candidate will be a direct contributor to a large NIH UM1 research center, entitled Center for Multi-scale Multi-Omic Human and Non-human Primate Atlas.
ResponsibilitiesIndependent conduct of experiments and optimization of various protocols to ensure successful and consistent results. Work closely with collaborating teams across the center to conduct necessary protocol validation experiments.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, biology, chemistry, or related scientific field.
- A minimum of five years of experience working in a large research laboratory.
- Strong technical and scientific writing skills.
- Experience with research/grant proposal development, writing and editing publications record in reputable journals.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a diverse team of graduate students, postdocs, research staff, and the ability to promote collaboration and cooperation among teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Time management and planning skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Strong computer experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with or willingness to learn new laboratory management software.
