Overview
We are seeking a Scientist to join the Protein Sciences team to design and validate antibody molecules for the targeted delivery of oligonucleotides. The candidate will work across teams to validate receptors, assist with antibody discovery campaigns, and advance lead molecules for conjugation. The candidate will bring expertise in antibody engineering and receptor validation.
This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.
Responsibilities- Design antibodies and antibody fragments across multiple formats (bispecifics, Fc fusions, Fabs, scFvs).
- Research tool antibody molecules for target validation and assist with antibody discovery campaigns for selected targets.
- Model antibody structures using relevant software like Pymol and Chimera
X. - Characterize protein quality and stability using methods like SDS-PAGE, melting point, size‑exclusion chromatography, ion exchange, UV‑Vis, DLS, and ELISA.
- Work with CROs to produce antibodies and troubleshoot expression issues.
- Develop and perform binding assays using BLI (Octet) or SPR (Biacore) for epitope binning and determination of kinetic binding parameters.
- Meet quality, quantity, and timelines in all assigned projects.
- Proper electronic notebook record keeping.
- Contribute to a cross‑functional team of biologists, chemists, and pharmacologists to drive the strategic direction of research programs across multiple therapeutic modalities.
- PhD degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience with a focus on antibody design and engineering.
- Deep understanding of antibody design, protein structure and protein purification across multiple formats including bispecifics, Fc fusions, Fabs, and scFvs.
- Strong technical background in antibody characterization includes binding kinetics and therapeutic applications for target mediated delivery.
- Experience with recombinant protein analysis for monoclonal antibodies (SDS-PAGE, size exclusion chromatography, reverse phase chromatography, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and UV‑VIS spectroscopy).
- Passionate about driving his or her projects from the bench to independently contribute to research directions and solve challenging issues.
- Detail oriented, self‑motivated, and comfortable working with highly technical projects.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver conclusive results.
- Highly adaptable and responsive to new priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
