AI POLICY LEAD

Position Overview

The AI Policy Lead will support senior staff in creating a wide range of policy outreach materials, manage a sector‑specific research fund, deepen knowledge of J‑PAL sectors, and provide evidence support to policymakers. The role also includes supporting diversity, equity, inclusion initiatives, serving as a liaison between J‑PAL Global and regional offices, and assisting with other J‑PAL projects.

Responsibilities
  • Create policy outreach materials including publications, evaluation summaries, presentations, grant proposals, policy memos, blogs, social media content, newsletters, website content, and other sector‑specific documents.
  • Support and manage the administration of a sector‑specific, ongoing competitive research fund.
  • Develop in‑depth knowledge of one J‑PAL sector.
  • Provide evidence support to policymakers.
  • Support J‑PAL’s overall mission in areas such as knowledge management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and liaison work between J‑PAL Global and regional offices.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in economics, public policy, or international development with significant training in economics; strong technical understanding of economics necessary to translate J‑PAL findings into clear and accurate policy conclusions.
  • Minimum eight years of work experience, including experience in randomized evaluations, economics research, and international development policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in computer science, machine learning, or other AI‑related topics.
  • Experience overseeing research and policy grant‑funding competitions.
  • Experience with technology, product development, and using AI tools.
