Position: Technical Associate I, Langer Lab

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, LANGER LAB, Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research (multiple openings), to join the Jaklenec Group and support our interdisciplinary and dynamic team with the development of metal‑organic framework (MOF)-based platforms for micronutrient delivery and focus on executing experimental pipeline spanning material synthesis and characterization, food integration, and biological evaluation.

Responsibilities
  • Synthesize and optimize porous materials (e.g. MOFs) for controlled nutrient delivery.
  • Execute experimental pipeline spanning material synthesis and characterization, food integration, and biological evaluation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • Two years of specialized lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate).
  • Experience with MOF materials synthesis, nanoparticles, nutrient delivery, biomaterials, or chemistry.
  • Basic familiarity with at least one materials characterization technique, e.g., PXRD, SEM, ICP-MS.
  • Willingness to work on biological experiments and at the interface of applied materials systems relevant to global health.
  • Experience working with and maintaining technical instruments/equipment.
  • Comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards and producing accurate, high‑quality work.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Practiced documentation skills.
  • Awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Willingness to learn new scientific tools and techniques quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; multitask; and plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments/experiments simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant experience with MOFs/nanoparticle synthesis and characterization.
  • Experience with biological experiments such as cell culture, in vitro assays, or animal studies.
  • Interest in translational research at the interface of materials and global health.
