REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, chemical/biological/biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or a field directly related to the work; a minimum of two years of specialized laboratory experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate, co-op student, research assistant, or in an industry or academic research setting; hands-on experience with analytical chemistry and/or bioanalytical workflows, including sample preparation and quantitative analysis;
experience with one or more analytical platforms such as HPLC, LC-MS, ICP-MS, GPC/SEC, DSC, DLS, NMR, UV-Vis, FTIR, or related instrumentation; and experience processing biological, formulation, or device-associated samples for quantitative analysis. PREFERRED:
Master's degree.

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Mechanical Engineering - The Traverso Lab, to support fast-paced, interdisciplinary research focused on next-generation drug delivery systems, biomedical devices, biomaterials, and translational platforms. This role provides critical analytical and bioanalytical support across collaborative projects involving MIT, Brigham and Women's Hospital, the Broad Institute, and other partners. The Technical Associate will develop, optimize, validate, and implement analytical and bioanalytical methods for formulations, implants, ingestible devices, biomaterials, and related technologies.
Responsibilities include processing biological and formulation samples such as plasma, serum, tissue, gastrointestinal fluids, fecal samples, device extracts, and in vitro or ex vivo samples using established preparation techniques. The role will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation including HPLC, LC-MS, ICP-MS, GPC/SEC, DSC, DLS, UV-Vis, FTIR, and NMR, and analyze complex datasets to support interpretation of formulation performance, pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, device function, biocompatibility, and therapeutic efficacy.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating sample intake, maintaining sample tracking systems, documenting analytical methods and standard operating procedures, summarizing results, and presenting findings at laboratory meetings.
