ODDITY is a consumer tech company that builds and scales digital-first brands to disrupt the offline-dominated beauty and wellness industries. The company serves over 40 million users with its AI-driven online platform, deploying data science to identify consumer needs, and developing solutions in the form of beauty and wellness products. ODDITY owns IL MAKIAGE, Spoiled Child, and medical-grade skincare and telehealth platform METHODIQ.
ODDITY LABS is our cutting-edge biotechnology R&D center, powering science-backed product innovation through the discovery and development of new molecules, probiotics, peptides, and other biological modalities. Unlike pharmaceuticals, ingredient innovation in the beauty and wellness industry has remained stagnant for decades. We are deploying patented, proprietary technologies and capabilities, including AI-based molecule discovery and advanced phenotypic databases, to understand the biological mechanisms that drive cellular behavior and develop uniquely efficacious products for beauty and wellness applications.
Innovations from the ODDITY LABS will power game-changing products through ODDITY’s current brands, as well as future brands.
ODDITY operates with business headquarters in New York City, an R&D center in Tel Aviv, Israel, and a biotechnology lab in Boston. Our culture is fast-paced, innovative, agile, and offers every team member the opportunity to drive a big impact.
THE ROLEWe are seeking a Senior Research Associate to be the hands‑on technical anchor for dermatology assay workflows — executing, optimizing, and documenting experiments that support target validation, screening, and translational substantiation. You will work closely with PhD scientists, owning day‑to‑day bench execution while contributing protocol improvements and training junior staff. This is a high‑skill, high‑autonomy RA role. Success is measured by reproducible data, assay reliability, and the quality of experimental support you provide to discovery teams.
In this role, you will:
- Execute and troubleshoot cell‑based, biochemical, and phenotypic assays: ELISA, MSD, HTRF/TR‑FRET, qPCR, reporter gene assays, viability/cytotoxicity, and flow cytometry.
- Run in vitro safety packages including genotoxicity, phototoxicity, sensitization, and irritation screens under established SOPs.
- Support ex vivo human skin explant studies: tissue handling, sample preparation, endpoint readouts, and coordination with analytical partners.
- Assist with IVPT / Franz diffusion experiments: chamber setup, sampling, permeation sample handling, and LC/MS handoff logistics.
- Maintain cell lines, reagents, and lab inventory; ensure experiments meet QC and traceability standards.
- Optimize existing protocols for throughput, reproducibility, and cost efficiency.
- Draft and maintain SOPs, ELN entries, and raw data packages suitable for internal review and external partner handoff.
- Perform basic data analysis and figure preparation for scientist‑led program updates.
- Flag experimental anomalies, propose troubleshooting paths, and document deviations.
- Support an environment that enables a staff of highly skilled and specialized peers to perform biological and computational experiments and promote trust and decision‑making.
- Contribute to promoting a unified office/laboratory culture by organizing and assisting in planning community‑building activities.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for all laboratory personnel. Enforce and support universal precautions and use of personal protective equipment for all laboratory personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, bioengineering, chemistry, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 4–5 years of hands‑on industry or academic laboratory experience in cell/molecular biology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiplex immunoassays, qPCR, and cell‑based screening — not solely maintenance‑level techniques.
- Proven expertise with functional assays including reporter cell lines, flow‑cytometry, ELISA, cytokine profiling, biochemical assays, and fluorescence imaging. Experience with documentation discipline: ELNs, lab notebooks, SOP adherence, and reproducible experimental records.
