POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, BIOMECHATRONICS

To develop the requirements for a closed-loop neuroprosthesis and investigate its effect in persons with neuromotor conditions; assist in designing and developing embedded systems for sensing, stimulation and closed-loop computation; assist in the recruitment and screening of patients with neuromotor conditions; lead the surgical design for the neuroprosthesis implants, as well as the closed-loop controller, and data collection experiments with the patients;
assist with the design and investigation of other novel muscle stimulation methods, including muscle phenotype tuning via functional electrical stimulation; develop proposals for research funding; and engage in wider research and scholarly activities with the research group.

REQUIREDPhD in Mechanical, Biomechanical, Biomedical Engineering, or Bioengineering, or a related field, with a strong background in experimental or theoretical/computational aspects of neuroprostheses, wearable robotics and human sensing technologies; demonstrated skills in embedded systems, control systems, and neuroprostheses; ability to contribute in a multidisciplinary group of students and researchers; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as in a highly collaborative team environment;
and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension based on the course of the research.
