Scientific Fellow, AI-Enabled CMC

Responsibilities- Shape scientific strategy, evaluate internal and external capabilities, and apply deep scientific judgement to advance CMC across development, scale‑up, tech transfer, and Manufacturing Sciences.
- Provide expert leadership on how advanced digital, computational, and AI approaches can accelerate CMC development, improve process understanding and control, strengthen robustness and decision‑making, and increase probability of success across the product lifecycle.
- Work across research programs and R&D‑wide initiatives, advising senior leaders and corporate management on emerging scientific and technological advances, strategic opportunities, and differentiated approaches in AI‑enabled CMC spanning both small and large molecule modalities where relevant.
- Define scientific strategies and practical tactics supporting company ambitions in AI‑enabled CMC, assessing emerging methods, platforms, partnerships, and external innovations for scientific quality, strategic relevance, and potential impact across process development, formulation, analytical sciences, process modeling, scale‑up, tech transfer, manufacturing process monitoring, process robustness, and data‑driven process optimization.
- Collaborate with R&D CMC teams and partner closely with scale‑up, tech transfer, and Manufacturing Sciences organizations to identify opportunities where advanced analytics, modeling, automation, and AI can improve speed, reliability, and knowledge transfer.
- Establish and maintain a national and international reputation as a thought leader through high‑impact publications, patents, productive scientific collaborations, invited speaking engagements, conference participation, and other visible contributions to the scientific community.
- Ph.D. in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, computational science, data science, machine learning, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in academia, biotech, technology, pharma, or a manufacturing‑focused environment.
- Strong track record in AI, computational tools, and CMC‑related scientific innovation.
- Demonstrated success advising senior leaders, evaluating emerging scientific capabilities, and translating technical advances into strategic R&D and manufacturing impact.
- Capable of operating as a highly independent senior scientific leader without direct line management responsibility, while exerting broad influence across a matrixed organization.
