Your role and responsibilities

As a Research Scientist specializing in Artificial Intelligence, you will lead cutting‑edge projects in various AI and machine learning areas, creating and leveraging innovative techniques to solve complex analytical problems. In this role, you will conduct cutting‑edge research and development on AI projects at the frontier of the field, such as long‑horizon memory for self‑evolving models, with applications to use cases relevant to IBM business, including enterprise document understanding and quantum computing.

You will apply rigorous and quantitative approaches to develop and embed research algorithms in usable systems. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Develop innovative AI approaches to solve analytical problems using rigorous and quantitative methods.
  • Design and conduct experiments to demonstrate the properties of algorithms and evaluate their impact on user experiences.
  • Integrate research algorithms into usable systems, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal performance.
  • Communicate research findings with technical communities through publications in top‑tier conferences and journals, such as NeurIPS, CVPR, and ICML.
Required technical and professional expertise
  • Hands‑on experience with large language and multimodal models.
  • Solid knowledge in transformer models and statistical inference.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Great problem‑solving skills, with a strong desire for quality and engineering excellence.
  • Publications in top‑tier AI conferences.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Hands‑on experience building AI memory models and systems for long‑horizon reasoning or self‑evolving agents.
