Associate Scientist II, RNA Synthesis
We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Associate Scientist II to join our RNA synthesis group and support our mission to deliver the next generation of RNAi-based medicines. The successful candidate will contribute to the purification and analysis of oligonucleotides in support of our growing RNAi drug development platform. This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purification and analysis of chemically modified oligonucleotides using automated platforms.
- Utilize a various range of HPLC prep instruments to perform purification and desalting of the synthesized oligonucleotides.
- Utilize analytical instrumentation such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, HPLC, and/or LC-MS for the analysis of both crude and purified synthetic products.
- Effectively troubleshoot synthetic/process issues and independently find solutions.
- Improve upon and/or develop new methods and automation for the downstream processing of synthetic oligonucleotides and their subsequent analysis/purification and annealing into siRNA duplexes.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely experimental documentation.
- Maintain and troubleshoot essential lab equipment, coordinating servicing and repairs as needed.
- Analyze, interpret, and organize analytical data to present to team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Experience with solid-phase synthesis (oligonucleotides, peptides, etc) is preferred but a background in organic chemistry is sufficient.
- Experience with instrumentation such as analytical and prep HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis spectrometry, etc. is required.
- Good understanding of chromatography and experience in developing methods (IEX/RP HPLC, LC-MS) is a plus.
- Ability to function within a highly interdisciplinary environment is a must.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, good organization skills, the ability to multitask, and the ability to work within a team and/or independently are required.
U.S. Pay Range $67,600.00 - $
The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
