Job Description & How to Apply Below
Scientist, Antibody Conjugation
We are seeking a Scientist to join our Protein Sciences group to help with our antibody conjugation efforts. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, technically competent, and able to work efficiently across multiple projects. We are searching for enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated individuals, with a scientific background in antibody-drug conjugates including the assembly, purification, and analysis of these molecules.
This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform chemical reactions to assemble antibody-oligonucleotide conjugates using various conjugation handles, linkers, and antibody formats (IgG, Fab, scFv, bispecific)
- Utilize multiple strategies for stochastic and site-specific conjugation
- Optimize reactions and purification methods to improve yields and efficiency ranging from mg to gram scale
- Independently troubleshoot conjugation reactions for improved yields and processes
- Analyze conjugates using all relevant techniques (IEX, HIC, SEC, SDS-PAGE, mass spec, UV-Vis)
- Drive automation for high-throughput conjugation at various scales
- Work closely with biology teams to plan studies and generate materials on time for multiple projects
- Proper electronic notebook record keeping with high attention to detail
- Communication of experimental plans and data to multiple cross-functional scientific teams
- Work closely with biologists, chemists, and pharmacologists to contribute to the strategic direction of research programs across multiple therapeutic modalities
Qualifications:
- The candidate should have a PhD degree with 0-3 years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of antibody conjugation chemistries with both stochastic and site-specific techniques
- Strong understanding of modern ADC chemistry and linker design highly preferred
- Hands on experiences with preparing antibody-drug conjugates and analyzing them using multiple methods (IEX, HIC, SEC, mass spec)
- 0-2 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience is preferred
- Experience with Agilent and AKTA software
- Experience with recombinant protein analysis (affinity, size exclusion, reverse phase, hydrophobic interaction, ion exchange, SDS-PAGE, and UV-VIS spectroscopy)
- Experience with SPR and/or Octet binding experiments is nice to have
- Passionate about driving his or her projects to independently contribute to research directions and solve challenging issues
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working with highly technical projects
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver conclusive results
- Highly adaptable and responsive to new priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to train and supervise associate scientists in the laboratory
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Experience with ELN record keeping
