This position is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed and growing Alzheimer Research group. The successful candidate will be involved with the design and execution of experiments to support the discovery of novel drug targets and the development of small and large molecule drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
Responsibilities:
- He/she would be expected to work in a fast paced and highly collaborative team environment, and perform independent basic science and drug discovery research using the highest scientific standards.
- He/she will be responsible for developing and validating new animal models of neurodegenerative diseases, designing and conducting in vivo studies with these models, generating data sets using a wide variety of analytical techniques, and presenting data to program teams.
- Possess excellent understanding of basic neurobiology of neurodegenerative diseases and mechanisms of neurodegeneration.
- Demonstrate keen knowledge of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, and the ability to analyze and assess results.
- Possess significant experience in immunohistopathological techniques, including tissue processing and sectioning, immunostaining, microscopy techniques and image analysis.
- Possess significant experience in a variety of biochemical analytical methods, including gel electrophoresis, Western blot, ELISA, protein extraction.
- Possess expertise in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer-related models.
- Possess surgical skills (stereotaxic injections) and experience with handling and dosing of rodents, tissues and fluids collection (CSF, plasma).
- Qualified candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain detailed written records of research.
Education and Experience:
• MS or BS in biological sciences and minimal 2 years of relevant experience in academia or industry.
