Analytical Senior Scientist – Analytical Chemistry
Responsibilities- Integrate and apply platform and prior product knowledge to advance Amgen practices from first in-human study through marketing application.
- Define analytical control strategies and implement methodologies for pivotal phase clinical programs.
- Collaborate closely with drug substance and drug product process development colleagues.
- Manage activities at contract manufacturing and testing sites.
- May lead and develop a small group of scientists.
- Doctorate degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) with relevant post‑doctoral experience, OR
- Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience, OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience.
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry in process and product development and drug substance/drug product analytical method development.
- Strong understanding of small‑molecule analysis, structure elucidation, and solid‑state characterization with knowledge of organic chemistry.
- Proficiency in chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), mass spectrometry, UV, NMR, FTIR, solid‑state characterization, and related techniques.
- Experience developing and implementing in‑process, release, and stability testing methods.
- Knowledge of USP monographs, ICH/FDA guidance, and regulatory requirements for immediate and controlled release oral solid dosage products.
- Familiarity with GLP and GMP requirements and applying them appropriately across phases.
- Experience in technical transfer to non‑GMP and GMP production/testing sites, managing deliverables against timelines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide cross‑functional leadership and guidance to CMC and non‑clinical teams.
- Excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail in authoring methods, specifications, technical reports, and regulatory filings.
Salary Range: $126,066 – $170,560 (U.S. only)
