Position Title
Lynch Family Foundation Health Equity Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Harvard Medical School, Global Health and Social Medicine
OverviewThe Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard University emphasizes a biosocial interdisciplinary approach to research and training, focusing on improving health delivery and promoting health equity worldwide. The fellowship honors the memory of the late Professor Paul Farmer and supports early‑career researchers to pursue an original research project rooted in biosocial perspectives.
Primary Responsibilities- Design and conduct an original research project in a low‑income setting of the Global South.
- Work closely with a department faculty mentor and collaborate with local research partners.
- Participate in department seminars, career‑development workshops, and other activities at Harvard Medical School.
Basic Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in a field linked to social medicine or global health (e.g., anthropology, history, sociology, economics, ecology, epidemiology, implementation science, bioethics).
- Completed the Ph.D. within the three years prior to the start date.
- Experience working in low‑income communities.
Additional Qualifications
- Early‑stage researcher with a doctorate in a related area by the expected start date.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with local research partners and capacity for independent work.
- Will engage with researchers and faculty and participate in departmental activities.
- Both U.S. and international candidates are welcome; visa sponsorship may be considered.
- Fellowship stipend within the post‑doctoral salary range.
- Research funding and professional development funding available.
- Opportunity to receive additional funds for fieldwork and training.
Boston, Massachusetts, with travel to research sites as needed.
